The best is when he's standing up in his chair and clapping the crap out of himself; great is when he just stands and claps; average is when he sits and claps; slightly-boring is when he sits; then he falls asleep, which means the movie is either really quiet OR REALLY FUCKING BORING.
Then, one day, I saw an empty chair.*
Breaking Dawn was, is, and always will be an Empty Chair Book.
But I'll give it one star because it did lead to some very insightful discussions about vampires and how EXACTLY they make babies.

ATTACK OF THE MUTANT SPERM!!!!!!!

lol sex. :3
Also, there was a complete lack of GAY in all of these books. Figures. What 'bout choo? <---trying to soun dlike Stan lol***

I feel kind of cheap posting the same reviews on GoodReads. o___O

Honestly, though, I think this is John Green's best. I read Looking for Alaska and was fucking sobbing, I read An Abundance of Katherines and was actually snorting with laughter.
But then I read Paper Towns.
I laughed, I cried, I fell in love.*
Similar to his other books, Paper Towns has a quirky (and often lovably-nerdy) male protagonist, an equally if not more so strong female counterpart (see? not sexist.), and an addictive plot that keeps you hooked up to and past the last page. It has crazy people, boring people, and people who left normal behind a long, long time ago --for better or for worse.
As John Green said in his video, this book is about how we create ideas of what we think people are or should be, and how if we look just a little past our expectations and supposed perfection, we can see the reality of the picture and know that what we love and what we wanted to love are two very, very different things.
...from GoodReads...**
Quentin is searching for Margo Roth Spiegelman. Or, more accurately, his idea of Margo Roth Spiegelman. Margo, however (writing Margo Roth Spiegelman over and over is very tiring!), has recognised that the way they see each other is far from realistic; they've both created unattainable images of perfection, which, in a way, they keep hoping will be true.Complete with Omnictionary, catfish, breaking, entering, and quite literally tons of awesome, Paper Towns just might be that one book you want to take with you to that desert island you happen to be relocating to
*I also realised that I have this problem where I always fall in love with fictional characters and not, um, real people. Read: Margo Roth Spiegelman, Desdemona (I spent the entire 7th grade coming up with Tridecalogisms. No. Fucking. Joke. And, um, Charlie Eppes. :3)
**In my defence I have a migraine that hurts like being repeatedly punched in the same tender spot again and again except IN MY BRAIN. The book is very dramatic, but not in a fake way; LuLing (Ruth's mother) has a very big personality, but it's still believable (unlike, I believe, he opera). LuLing's 'guardian', Precious Auntie, pushes the envelope between fantasy and fiction, but LuLing and Ruth's response to Precious Auntie make it real.
The Bonesetter's Daughter has been made into an opera, and while opera is appealing to some people, I'm not a really big fan. The plot of the opera veers so far from the plot of the book, that it was almost a sort of Alternate Universe performance with the same characters. The book is about family, history, acceptance, change, and love, but all set in a believable context. The opera was drama! and pain! and not to much joy. While there is plenty of pain and sorrow in the book, it has resolution. In the end, the daughter is able to understand the mother, and they are able to reconcile and reflect. While the opera does show conflict, it has a more fantastical resolution that doesn't give the same effect as the novel.
I was not a very big fan of this book and don't really feel like putting a lot of effort into the review.
Suck it.

ps pica l8r i r 2 lazy nowz. <-----Oh my god that was so painful to write. Star athlete and perfect student, Josh is everything a teacher expects from a brilliant student --however, one teacher expects a little bit more.*
Ms. Sherman is Josh's 7th grade history teacher; however, she is an image of beauty perfected, and all of the boys in her classes (Josh included) fall under her charm. When Josh miraculously misses his bus, Evelyn Sherman (often referred to as 'Eve') takes him to her home, where she begins her seduction! Unfortunately, Josh is all-too-willing to comply, and soon their relationship has passed accepted and legal boundaries.

But the truth comes out at Josh's best-girl-friend Rachel's birthday party. To Josh, what he does with Eve is the same he could do with anyone else, and when forced into a closet with Rachel under 'innocent' premises, he oversteps his 13-year old boundaries, and ends up hurting her.
When his mother is questioning him about the incident, Josh slips a note about his teacher; his mother responds furiously, and soon Eve is on trial. In the end, Josh loses his best friend and Eve goes to jail.

In his senior year, Rachel approaches Josh and offers her forgiveness, friendship, and love. Aw. Josh is hestitant, guilty, and worried about developing a friendship --or closer relationship --with his friend, especially since, only weeks before, Eve was released from jail. Trying to get over Eve and his imperfecitons, he decides to take Rachel up on her offer --for better, or for worse.
Haha. My summarisation skillz make me laugh. Oh, good times, good times.

ET L'CRITIQUE!

Though not as good as Fan Boy & Goth Girl, Boy Toy was still a pleasant* read! Yay! It's not terribly explicit, but a good part of the book is Josh being a horny 7th grader. -shrug- Go team. It leaves you to wonder how people get caught up in affairs, especially underage ones; why they feel compelled to; and what they have to deal with before, during, and after. However, if you are looking for a book on statutory rape and such, I would recommend What Was She Thinking? [Notes on a Scandal] by Zoë Heller. The movie is terrific.*

*Just an itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny bit more...
*Oh, my life amuses me. Pleasant. -snort-
*Cate Blanchett does a wonderful job as the teacher in this story. -coughnotbiasedcough-

My god I'm glad that's over...

DEMO - BRAIN WOOD & BECKY CLOONAN

MORE COMICS. The first few comics are of a not-so-super theme, where the protagonists have strange powers they begin to discover and fail to control. The later stories progress to people attending to their daily lives; normal, you-and-me problems.

The art of Demo is not really my style, but my friends and I enjoyed the collection nonetheless. There wasn't anything particularly brilliant about it, but it was a nice interpretation of life on paper. And the supernatural powers some people possessed were...enlightening. The writing is nothing extraordinary, but it all fits together into a classic indie comic.

!

WAKE - LISA MCMANN

.:lulz:.

Yo yo.

Eh...Janie* gets sucked into peoples dreams. I cried. x___X I wasn't feeling the ya-yas.

The book is composed of Valentine's Day stories that Levithan wrote in high school for his friends, as well as more recently-composed love or concerning-love tales. They are, as all of Levithan's books, *touching* and well-written. They weave perfection and promise into real-world situations and relationships and give you an idea and ideal to look for. Go team. Some stories end happily --some don't; but they all revolve around love and how it impacts life as we know it.

I think that's just about the cheesiest thing I've ever written/said in my entire life. Go me.

Really, though; this is one of my favorite books and my favorite David Levithan book. It's beautifully written and appropriate for everyone and I have to go now because this Buffy episode is getting tense.

KTHXBAI

WIDE AWAKE - DAVID LEVITHAN

ALTERNATE UNIVERSE

-robot-

In the alternate universe of Wide Awake, America is...good?

JINKIES!

Wide Awake is the story of Duncan* and his boyfriend Jimmy*. After their father leaves, the children and their mother* relocate to the Spiderwick estate, a large dilapidated house of their insane aunt Lucinda, now in a nearby asylum/old people home*. Here Jared finds a book their great uncle Arthur Spiderwick had made, chronicling the lives and traits of faeries and other magical creatures preciously unknown to the world. They have several run-ins with the cruel goblins, gain a new pet gryphon, and find the secret of Arthur Spiderwick and his daughter Lucinda; locate his Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You; meet the house brownie; and face the evil ogre, Mulgarath. The stories take place over 5 books (duh) and go with several beautiful drawings, sketches, and images in each book.

I think the Spiderwick Chronicles are abosultely incredible; Holly Black is an excellent author, and spins a captivating story of mystery, action, and terror, while Tony DiTerlizzi draws absoultely gorgeous images to accompany the words. The movie differs in several ways, and (as it usually is) the books are, ultimately, better written and less scary*.

I would recommend these books for anyone and everyone, however they will obviously be easier for the older, more advanced readers. I think the series is generally geared towards 7-10 years old.*

*MARY-LOUISE PARKER -SPAZ-
*Can't recall what those are called. Wow, I am good at flaming. WARNING: THIS IS MORE OF A RANT POST AND CONTAINS TEH SPOILERZ....So if you DO want to read this book............................go die. -twitch- There are several reasons this book bugged me, but I feel one of the most important ones is....

THE GUY ON DA COVER HAS STUBBLE!!!!!

Normally I don't have a problem with stubble, BUT HE HAD VIRTUALLY THREE LITTLE BRISTLES ON THE BASE OF HIS CHIN.

Not cool, guys, not cool.

Kiss Me, Kill Me is actually a romance/murder/mystery thing. Maybe. It begins with protagonist Scarlett Wakefield FINALLY BE NOTICED BY DA GUY OF HER DREAMS. Lovely. Then, she is invited by his high-society friends to a party. A PARTY!!!! LYK OMG A PARTY!!!! She is, naturally, thrilled, and abandons her socially-deprived gymnast friends for the high class society people at the party. There, she has her wonderful, dreamy kiss with the one and only Dan Something, who proceeds to fall over DEAD seconds later. Jolly good! She is, of course, absolutely horrified, and Dan's friends and all those annoying preppy girls proceed to make her life hell. A joint decision between her and her grandmother, she moves to her grandmother's school, where she meets a shady girl named Taylor*, finds a new boy to love*, and sets out to find out WHO KILLED DAN (maybe McAndrews*.)

The thing that disappointed me most about this book (other than the stubble) was that, at the end of the book, Scarlett completely forgets about Dan and how enamored she was with him. She just moves on to the gardener with the gorgeous eyes. She may devote some of her time to solving the murder mystery, but she just moves on from her old friends and her old love. What a flake. She spent her entire life wishing she could kiss this guy, and then she forgets him. Psh.

I amuse myself.

So in review, this book is not a good use of your money. You're much better off saving up to buy a crapload of manga. Or Neil Gaiman's Eternals. I am not marketing agent, noooooooo.

X___x

*I think.

*Eh cannot remember his name. Too lazy to go look.

*That might be his last name. I'm not really sure.

GODCHILD VOL. 8 :: GODLESS - KAORI YUKI

HAI LOOK GUYS IT'S MANGA!!!!!

And not just any manga! <---wow, cheeeeeeeeeeesy. But seriously, Godchild is one of my favorites if not favorite manga of ALL TIME. IT PWNS NARUTO. So enough of my biased praise -coughpsykecough-. AND NOW FOR THE SHOW!

GODCHILD, VOL. 8 :: GODLESS

There are 8 volumes in the Godchild series, and this, being the 8th, is obviously the 8th (derrrrr). The series is a vision into the past and present life of Earl Cain Hargreaves (jakfgjadjgkak I totally spelled that wrong). The story is set in 19th century England, where your place in society is the height of gossip and Cain's life, though he is a rich, gifted Earl, seems remarkably out of place.

When Cain was young, his father mysteriously passed away through a series of odd incidents, some involving Cain; after the death, a secret organization called Delilah emerged and began to target Cain, his family, and his friends. Through luck; intuition; a vast knowledge of people, poisons, and detective skillz; and a loyal servant named Riff, Cain escapes all of Delilah's attacks and begins to find out more and more about his father's death, the organization, their plans, and how he fits in.

The previous volumes are divided into different parts, often fairy tales or children's stories and nursery rhymes twisted and warped with a gothic flair. This volume is set in parts as well, but is one continuous story, an explanation of Cain, his past, and the past of all around him.

So...um...obviously I like Godchild. A lot. Cain is also featured in another Kaori Yuki series, The Cain Saga. If you live outside of the US it's different. 0.o I'm really bad at staying on the topic. Anyways, the art in Godchild is just riveting, incredibly beautiful, and really well done. It doesn't have very much romance, but it's a shojo (girl) manga; there's action and, I guess, 'gory' moments (so some of the books have those little plastic covers on them so the little kids don't pick them up and be all like 'Mommy why is that man putting staples in the puppy's brain?') Sometimes the story is a little random and the science advancements are completely absurd, but the art and the beauty makes up for it. <3

Go stuff yourself with sushi and read a book.

IT'S NUMMY TIME!!!!

P.S. This manga is only kind of gay. And not in a like OHMYGODURSOGAYIHATEU kind of way but a like HAILOOKTHOSEGUYSAREKISSING kind of gay.

Just so you know. :3

P.P.S. Sorry about the colors; I tried to fix it like 14173571351538 times but the cover still seems all washed out and strange. It deserves you going to your local independent book seller and buying a copy. Yeah, that good. But I also got a copy for free, so I might be biased. -coughcough- It was funny, awkward, heart-breaking; everything you could wish for in a book --plus a spiffy metallic cover. It also has a goth girl (REALLY?!) and Neil Gaiman. WHAT MORE EVIDENCE OF IT'S AWESZHOME DO YOU NEED?!

Zees lovely book comes to us from the great Barry Lyga, who lives up to every expectation for aweszhome. Fanboy loves comic books and is writing an, ahem, GRAPHIC NOVEL*. He's a social outcast, but through a meeting of not-so-spectacular events he meets Goth Girl, or Kyra. Fanboy and Kyra share a love of comic books and graphic novels, as well as the dislike of jocks and bullies that have made Fanboy's life miserable. Miserable enough for The List, a list (really? No, really?) of people who piss him off for no reason. People he can never get back at, due to both lack of physical and emotional strength.

With Kyra's help, Fanboy begins to 'come out of his shell' and stand up for himself; he also tends to his graphic novel, which he longs to present to the grand Brian Michael Bendis, comic book and graphic novel extraordinnaire.

Unfortunately, the power of a graphic-novel-in-progress is not enough to keep Fanboy out of trouble, and he soons finds himself caught in a web; one he must escape for his own good, and for Kyra's as well.

Lalalala I'm sick and have had too much caffeine lalala. <----crazypants

*Har-har: 'Well, Harry's got sort of a wonky cross, well that's trials and suffering. And uh...That there could be the sun, and that's happiness... So uh, you're gonna' suffer, but you're gonna be happy about it.' - Ron Weasley
*That's right, graphic novel! Not a comic book! GRAPHICNOVELGRAPHICNOVELGRAPHICNOVEL. <----someone is little angsty after reminding everyone that Sandman is in fact a GRAPHIC NOVEL not a COMIC BOOK. I dare you to laugh. Hannah begins to describe Thirteen Reasons that contributed to her choice, Thirteen people who impacted her life enough that she wished to end it. She takes Clay through each event that lead to her deepening depression, all the while keeping him wondering what his part is in her decision. She includes a map with the tapes, each significant location marked with a star, and as each story is told, Clay travels to the scene of the crime.

Along the way he encounters other recipients of the tapes, people who had wronged Hannah in some twisted way, even though they thought themselves innocent and pure. Hannah instructs them to pass the tapes on to another one of the Reasons, to send off the tapes and the stories that will change 13 lives forever.

Hannah knows that there are secrets and statements on the tapes that could embarrass people --or worse --and warns them to keep the tapes moving from Reason to Reason until all 13 have heard her story, lest the truth somehow be leaked to the outside world.

Throughout the tapes Hannah expresses how people never tried to get close to her, never tried hard enough to help her out. Clay, though he conveys that he tried but she continually pushed him away, realises that this was the problem; that even though people may be refusing help, pushing people away and isolating themselves in their own little worlds, all they really want is someone to share it with, someone to join their little corner of the universe*. Because how can you save someone when you can't even see them?

YAY FOR ZE CRAPPY ASS SUMMARY!!! w00t w00t!!!! And now for ze review! Ahem...

I admit it: I judge books by their covers. I'm a sucker for a novel with a pretty picture on the front. I saw the shoes, the swing, the shnazzy title, and thought 'SPIFFY!' I read the little summary and, again, my vice: suicide books. I know it's weird, but I feel really connected to the stories and that's all I'm going to say. X.X

And it fulfilled all of my expectations. It was sweet, witty, raw; it gave insight into --what I felt --people are thinking before they kill themselves. Telling her story (well, stories, I guess) on tapes was pretty cool, but when it went back and forth between her and Clay (italics verses normal text) it got rather confuzzling. 0.X But I cried. Yeah, I cried. <---someone was a little sobbasket at the bookstore.

AND THAT'S IT, FOLKS. THANKS FOR READING.
